Virtual experiences in the classroom are enhancing education for some students in Floyd County. In February, Mrs. Cortney Kidd’s biology classes at Floyd Central High School visited the Royal Botanical Gardens in Ontario, Canada through a video conference with Education Officer Karen Davidson-Taylor to learn more about photosynthesis. This virtual visit was made possible by funding through Get Online and Learn through Kentucky Power, with assistance from Kentucky Educational Development Corporation, which provided eastern Kentucky classrooms with equipment that enables students to have virtual education experiences. Kidd said the funding allows students to have a virtual experience meeting professionals and visiting other places they may not have had.
