Secretary of State Alison Lundergan Grimes announced on Friday, March 9, 2018, a strategic partnership she has formed with three Eastern Kentucky county judge executives to explore a solar energy investment in the region. Grimes began facilitating discussions in 2017 between a solar energy developer and Judge Executives Scotty Alexander of Perry County, Zach Weinberg of Knott County, and Dan Mosley of Harlan County. Grimes said that, as a region with rising energy costs, solar energy can help diversify energy sources, lower utility costs, and create good jobs. Partners in the project are hoping for an investment announcement later this year
