A Lawrence County couple has been sentenced on multiple counts of Medicaid fraud. Kevin Gauze, 49, and Janice Gauze, 47, both of Louisa, pleaded guilty on February 9, and sentenced on Friday, March 9, 2018. According the their plea, they fraudulently bill Medicaid nearly $10,000, claiming a physician was performing services when no physician was present at the Tri-State Family Medical Center in Louisa. The couple also obtained controlled substance through forged prescriptions. Kevin Gauze was sentenced to a probated sentence of five years. Janice Gauze was sentenced to three years, to be diverted for a period of three years. Additionally, they must pay over $17,000 in restitution.
