On Monday, March 19, 2018, the Laurel County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Williamsburg man off Robert E. Cox Road after responding to a disturbance complaint. Upon arrival at the scene, deputies located the individual, identified as 23-year-old Robert Smith, in the parking lot screaming and creating a disturbance. Smith had allegedly thrown several items from a second story balcony into the parking lot and created a disturbance with a trooper on an unrelated traffic stop. The subject scuffled with deputies upon arrest. He was determined to be under the influence. Smith was charged with public intoxication, disorderly conduct, and resisting arrest. He was lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.
