Alford Plea Entered for Former Prestonsburg Mayor

On Wednesday, March 21, 2018, former Prestonsburg Mayor Jerry Fannin’s attorney entered a motion for an Alford Plea in federal court. In an Alford Plea, a defendant asserts innocence, but admits there is enough evidence to be found guilty. The former mayor is accused of using city funds for personal use while he was in office. According to Fannin’s attorney, the plea was entered due to Fannin’s memory loss of that time period due to suffering from strokes in 2016.
