A Salyersville woman was killed in a deadly car crash in Kanawha County West Virginia on Saturday, March 24, 2018. The crash occurred around 5:30pm on I-77. According to the West Virginia State Police, Beatrice Patrick, 77, of Salyersville, was traveling northbound in the southbound lanes at a high rate of speed when she collided with a Buick sedan driven by James Platte, 49, of Westphalia, Michigan. Platte had a passenger, 38-year-old Tonya Platte, in the vehicle as well. All three died in the crash. Two firefighters from the Pratt Volunteer Fire Department were killed responding to the scene, after their truck flipped against a rock wall. Both accidents are currently under investigation by the West Virginia State Police.
