Two Dead, One in Critical Condition in Martin County Shooting

On Friday, March 23, 2018, Kentucky State Police Post 9 in Pikeville received a call of three bodies being found on a strip mine road just inside Martin County, across the Pike County line. Two of the victims, identified as 20-year-old Micah Sammons of Kimper, and 26-year-old Derek James of Huddy, were killed in the shooting. A third victim, Amber Lockard, 31 of Huddy, is currently in the hospital in critical condition. A person of interest has not yet been identified by the Kentucky State Police.
