Georgia Fugitive Arrested on Drug Charges in Laurel County

The Laurel County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Williamsburg man on drug charges following a traffic stop Monday, March 26, 2018. The arrest occurred around 1:36pm off West Cumberland Gap Parkway. The traffic stop occurred after David Lee Davis, 46, failed to signal several turns. During the traffic stop, Davis attempted to destroy drug evidence in his possession, believed to be oxycodone. It was also determined he was a wanted fugitive from the state of Georgia. He was charged with careless driving, possession of controlled substance and tampering with physical evidence. The individual will be extradited back to Georgia. He was lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.
