Labor Cabinet Saves Companies $455K in Potential Penalties During March 2018

The Labor Cabinet conducted 11 free on-site visits, or “consultative surveys” for Kentucky employers in the month of March. Through these visits, 65 serious violations were corrected that could have affected up to 1,699 employees. This resulted in saving participating companies up to $455,000 in potential enforcement penalties. The Labor Cabinet’s Division of Occupational Safety and Health Education and Training leads the Cabinet’s proactive efforts to create safe and healthful workplace conditions. According to a recent report from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, Kentucky employers recorded the lowest incident rate for nonfatal occupational injuries and illnesses in the state’s history in 2017.
