On Thursday, April 12, 2018, around 9:50am, Knox County Deputy Claude Hudson responded to a fight in progress in the parking lot at Esco’s Market at Dewitt. Deputy Hudson was advised that one of the men had received lacerations and that Knox EMS was in route. Upon arrival, the deputy learned that one individual involved, identified as Brandon Bingham, had fled the scene. The other individual, Jerry Smith, was being treated for a severe laceration to the throat, and was able to provide a statement. After processing the scene, collecting evidence and witness statements, Deputy Hudson traveled to Bingham’s residence on Kickapoo Trail in Flat Lick. He was arrested without incident. Bingham was charged with assault and lodged in the Knox County Detention Center.
