Over 1.3 Million Kentuckians Impacted by Facebook Privacy Breach

On Tuesday, May 1, 2018, Attorney General Andy Beshear announced that more than 1.3 million Kentuckians were impacted by an alleged privacy breach by social media network Facebook. Beshear and a group of AGs sent a letter to Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg on March 26, 2018 asking for the number of users impacted by the breach. Facebook provided state-by-state numbers to the group of Attorneys General because of their “profound concerns” over recent reports that users’ personal information was provided without permission to Cambridge Analytica and other third parties. Beshear said his office will continue to push for full information on the breach and continue to update the public.
