Two Arrested in Connection with Murder of Letcher County Man

A search for a missing Letcher County man transitioned to a murder investigation in Wednesday, May 2, 2018. Troopers with Kentucky State Police Post 13 began looking for Ricky Allen Gibson on Sunday, April 29, 2018, after family members advised they hadn’t seen him for several days. Troopers and detectives interviewed Clifford Caudill, 39, of Neon, and Dedra Keathley, 50, of Pikeville. Based on information gained in those conversations, both Caudill and Keathley were charged with one count each of murder and tampering with physical evidence. Both were lodged in the Letcher County Detention Center in Whitesburg. Around 11:15am Thursday, May 3, 2018, the body of 44-year-old Ricky Allen Gibson, of Jackhorn, was discovered over a hillside off of Haymond Hill Road. Letcher County Coroner Rene Campbell responded and pronounced Gibson deceased at the scene. His body was sent to the State Medical Examiner’s Office in Frankfort for autopsy.
