The Kentucky Department for Community Based Services officially opened its new Perry County office on Tuesday, May 8, 2018. The facility is located in Hazard on Highway 15. DCBS provides child and adult protective services and determines eligibility for Medicaid, welfare assistance, child care assistance, food stamps and other programs. Adria Johnson, DCBS Commissioners, said their priority is to provide quality and timely services to all families needing their assistance. Johnson said the new 24,380 square-foot office space opened to the public earlier this spring and combines all DCBS services into one location for easier customer service for the people of Hazard and Perry County.
