On Saturday, May 12, 2018, around 12:30pm, Kentucky State Police Post 11, London received a report of a three-vehicle crash with fatalities on US HWY 150 in the Mount Vernon community of Rockcastle County. Upon arrival, Trooper Seath Whiles determined that a 2001 Chevrolet Silverado, operated by Marty Evans,40, of Mount Vernon was traveling westbound pulling am empty utility trailer. Preliminary investigation indicates the utility trailer became detached from the tow hitch of the pickup truck and traveled into the eastbound lane of US HWY 150. A 2008 Yamaha motorcycle operated by Nathaniel Gilkerson, 24, of Carlisle, and a 2001 Harley Davidson operated by Gayle Liver, 69, of Carlisle, collided head-on with the utility trailer. Gilkerson, who was wearing his helmet at the time of collision, was pronounced dead at the scene. Gayle Liver was flown to the UK Medical Center where he is listed in critical condition. His passenger, Ann Liver, 65, who was wearing a helmet at the time of the collision, was pronounced dead at the scene. Trooper Whiles is continuing the investigation.
