Boone County Inmate Sentenced on Drug Trafficking Charge that Lead to Overdose Death

A Boone County inmate has been sentenced for drug trafficking that resulted in an overdose death. Chad Prodoehl, 35, of Independence, was sentenced to 300 months in federal prison on Friday, May 25, 2018. Prodoehl was convicted in December 2017 after evidence at trial established that he conspired with others to smuggle drugs into the Boone County Jail work camp. After leaving the camp on work release, he brought drugs, including carfentanil, back to the camp and distributed them. One inmate, identified as Timothy Marcum, overdosed and died as a result. After serving his sentence, Prodoehl will be under probation for five years.
