Daniel Dockery, an Army ROTC cadet at the University of Pikeville, was recently awarded the German Armed Forces Proficiency Badge for his outstanding performance in a two-day competition that tested skill, endurance, and fitness. The UPIKE cadet was chosen to compete at Indiana University against 334 soldiers and cadets from 23 universities in seven grueling events. Soldiers who passed all events were awarded gold, silver, or bronze medals based on their performance in each event. Dockery was one of only one-third of participants to achieve the gold standard in all events. Dockery, of Duffield, Virginia, is a biology major entering his junior year. He served four years in the Kentucky National Guard before joining UPIKE’s ROTC program.
