On Saturday, June 2, 2018, Knox County Deputy Sam Mullins received a complaint of suspicious activity involving a green vehicle at a residence on McDonald Lane in Heidrick. Deputy Mullins observed a green vehicle leaving McDonald Lane, turning onto Manchester Street. A traffic stop was conducted and several possibly stolen weapons and other items were observed inside the vehicle. Deputy Mullins arrested the driver, 35-year-old Benjamin Jordan of Barbourville, who was armed with a loaded handgun, charging him with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. A small amount of suspected methamphetamine and a set of digital scales were also discovered. His passenger, 31-year-old Brian Abner, was also arrested and charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession of controlled substance. Both were lodged in the Knox County Detention Center.
