On Tuesday, June 5, 2018 around 11:33am, Wise County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to a residence just outside of Pound in response to a call of an 11-month old female child having possibly taken the drug Suboxone. The mother advised that the father was prescribed 8.2mg strips of Suboxone. The child reported was in and out of consciousness and had heavy breathing. Deputy Dalton Cress determined that the baby was exhibiting signs of possible overdose and administered 4mg of nasal Narcan. The child became alert and breathing improved shortly after, and was transported to a local hospital by Pound Rescue, who administered an additional two doses by IV. The child was last reported in stable condition. The case remains under investigation.
