Gov. Bevin Orders State Flags to Half-Staff to Honor Cpl. Ernest L.R. Heilman

Governor Matt Bevin has directed that flags at all state office buildings be lowered to half-staff Friday, June 8, 2018, from sunrise to sunset, in honor of Cpl. Ernest L.R. Heilman, 19, a Greenup, Kentucky soldier who was captured and killed during the Korean War. Cpl. Heilman’s name is recorded on the Courts of the Missing at the National Cemetery of the Pacific, along with other MIAs from the Korean War. He was accounted for on August 19, 2016 and a rosette will be placed next to his name to indicate this. He will be buried June 8, 2018 in Arlington National Cemetery. Governor Bevin encourages individuals, businesses, organizations and government agencies to join in this tribute of lowering the flag in honor of Cpl. Heilman.
