A two vehicle injury traffic crash occurred on KY 229 in Laurel County on Wednesday, June 6, 2018. Investigating deputies report that a northbound tractor-trailer had a metal piece of the back inside wheel of the trailer break off the vehicle and hit on the pavement, then traveling through the air through the front windshield on the passenger side of a full-size van traveling southbound. The tractor-trailer continued traveling until noticing smoke coming from the back side of his trailer. The drivers of both vehicles were not injured. The passenger of the van, 58-year-old Mary Jackson of Florence, was transported to St. Joseph Hospital London for treatment of head injuries.
