On Saturday, June 9, 2018, around 7:24am, Laurel County Sheriff’s Deputy Detective Kyle Gray responded to a complaint that a motorist was broken down in the southbound lane of I-75. When Detective Gray arrived at the scene, he located a gray colored Jeep Grand Cherokee unoccupied and conducted a check on the vehicle, which he learned was reported stolen from Chicago, Illinois. Identification belonging to Robert Lee Campbell was located in the vehicle. When Campbell returned to the vehicle, he gave the detective a false name before confirming his identity. Campbell, 30, of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, was charged with receiving stolen property, operating a motor vehicle under the influence, and numerous other charges. He was lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.
