Two were arrested at the Laurel County Courthouse on Thursday, June 14, 2018. The arrest occurred around 10:15am after deputies were dispatched to a complaint of a possible intoxicated female subject at the child support office. When deputies arrived, they conducted an investigation and determined that the subject, identified as 27-year-old Sarah Roberts, was under the influence. Roberts admitted to taking Suboxone earlier and learned she had an eight-month-old male child in the vehicle and that she had been driven there by the father of the child. Deputies determined that the father, 45-year-old Elmer Smith, was also under the influence, and admitted to snorting methamphetamine and using Suboxone earlier. The two were arrested and lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.
