The Laurel County Sheriff’s Office made an arrest following a shooting on Court Road in London on Tuesday, June 19, 2018. Deputies responded to a complaint of a man allegedly firing a rifle outside his residence in a reckless manner. When deputies arrived, the subject, identified as 42-year-old Brian Smith, was observed creating a disturbance. He was noted to have a pistol in his hand and was given several verbal commands to drop it before being physically detained. Witnesses say he fired in their direction, as well as at three horses in a nearby field. Smith was determined to be a convicted felon. He was charged with nine counts of wanton endangerment, disorderly conduct, and cruelty to animals, among other charges. He was lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.
