On Friday, June 22, 2018, Kentucky State Police Post 10 responded to a call of a deceased male found in a ditch at the junction of KY 3439 and Stephen Trace Road. Preliminary investigation indicates a utility worker found the deceased and called 911. The male was identified as 42-year-old Robert Saunders of Barbourville. An autopsy was performed on Saturday, June 23, 2018 at the State Medical Examiner’s Office in Frankfort. The medical examiner ruled the death as an apparent drowning. No foul play is suspected and toxicology results are pending.
