Pikeville Medical Center has announced the opening of The Corner Market in the atrium, on the second floor of May Tower. The Corner Market is a multi-purpose effort providing patients, visitors and staff the opportunity to purchase greeting cards, gifts, specialty items, gift cards and also serves as a compact convenient store. Pikeville Medical Center Vice President, Cory Weatherford, said they are excited about the opening of the store, saying it will benefit patients, staff, and the hospital. Weatherford added they were able to hire back some of the recently laid off employees to work in the gift shop. The store features unique gifts from Simply Southern, PMC, and UK items, plus convenience items including snacks, over-the-counter medications, milk, bread, eggs, and magazines. The Corner Market is open Monday thru Friday 9am to 7pm, Saturday 12 noon to 7pm and Sunday 2pm to 6pm.
