Two were arrested in Laurel County for a charge of child abuse on Friday, June 29, 2018. The arrest occurred around 10:33pm after the Laurel County Sheriff’s Office conducted an investigation into a complaint that social services was investigating at apartments approximately 9 miles south of London. When the investigation was conducted by the sheriff’s office and doctors, it was revealed that a 13-month-old child had infected cigarette burns on her backside. The child was treated at St. Joseph Hospital London and later transferred to UK Medical Center in Lexington for treatment. The parents of the child, Jessica Mae Sams,26, and Thomas Lee Tallon, 26, both of Corbin, were charged with criminal abuse and lodge din the Laurel County Detention Center.
