While traveling occurs during the summer season, citizens are reminded that vehicle break-ins are on the rise across the country. The Perry County Sheriff’s Office has offered the following tips to keep in mind while traveling to prevent vehicle break-ins: always plan stops along the route; do not leave your car running unattended; completely close and lock all doors and windows; remove portable electronic devices, as well and purses and wallets; place shopping bags and luggage in the trunk; always park in a well lit area; and be aware of your surroundings. The Perry County Sheriff’s Office says they have received several reports of Perry Countians having their vehicles broken into while on vacation.
