Report of Possibly Wanted Person Leads to Drug Arrest in Lee County

On Thursday, July 5, 2018, the Lee County Sheriff’s Office received a call about a possibly wanted person in the parking lot of Black Diamond Market in the Stone Creek area. Deputy Ty Taylor responded to the scene and observed three individuals in an ATV side by side at the gas pumps. A strong odor of marijuana was detected, which led to a search of the vehicle. The search revealed two .45 caliber handguns, 27 grams of methamphetamine, a small amount of marijuana, and scales. It was also determined that two were convicted felons. One individuals ate some of the meth in an attempt to destroy it. Arrested at the scene were Alicia Green, 33, of Caywood, Byrd Smith, 35, of Day Branch, and Edward Gilbert, 31, of Baxter. All three individuals were held in the Duffield Regional Jail without bond.
