On Monday, July 16, 2018, a Mount Vernon man was arrested on a DUI charge in Laurel County after the Sheriff’s Office received a complaint of a truck in a ditch. The arrest occurred on Greenmount Bond Road around 3:36pm, where the driver, identified as 43-year-old Shannon York, allegedly drove his silver Chevrolet Silverado down a dead end street before driving into the ditch. An investigation determined he was under the influence. York was charged with DUI, operating on suspended or revoked operator’s license, careless driving, and failure to wear seatbelt. He was lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.
