A Breathitt County man was killed the morning of Monday, July 16, 2018 in a single vehicle crash. Trooper Mike Wolfe with Kentucky State Police Post 13 in Hazard responded to the collision scene on Highway 30 West in the Shoulderblade community around 10am. Arrow-Med Ambulance and Jackson Fire Department also assisted at the scene. The initial investigation determined that 2001 Chevrolet Silverado pick-up truck was traveling on KY 30 West when the driver lost control of the vehicle in a curve. The truck overturned on the roadway and came to rest on its top. The driver of the truck, identified as 68-year-old Larry Lewis of Jackson was pronounced deceased at the scene by Breathitt County Coroner George Griffith. No other occupants or vehicles were involved in the collision. Mr. Lewis was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash. No autopsy will be performed and toxicology results are pending.
