Man Arrested in Knox County for Driving Golf Cart Under the Influence

On Tuesday, July 17, 2018, around 7:40pm, Knox County Deputy Hunter Luttrell received a complaint of an intoxicated man on a golf cart on Highland Street in Artemus. Upon arrival at the scene, the deputy observed the individual operating the golf cart on Highland Lane. Deputy Luttrell activated his emergency equipment in an attempt to make a traffic stop, but the driver refused to stop until he approached the old railroad bridge on Old Railroad Lane. The driver was identified as 44-year-old James McNeil of Artemus. He was arrested on charges of operating a motor vehicle under the influence, as well as fleeing or evading police. McNeill was lodged in the Knox County Detention Center.
