Kentucky’s seasonally adjusted preliminary June 2018 unemployment rate was 4.2 percent, up from the 4.1 percent reported for May 2018. The preliminary June 2018 jobless rate was down from the 5.1 percent recorded in June 2017. According to the University of Kentucky’s Center for Business and Economic Research Associate Director Mike Clark, Ph.D., the increase was the result of more people entering the workforce and looking for work in June, rather than a decline in the number of people employed.
