On Friday, July 20, 2018, Johnson County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a call to a residence in the Thelma community. Two individuals had gone to pick up two minor children from the home but were not allowed inside by the residents. When deputies arrived, they were not allowed to enter, but were able to get the female subject, identified as 47-year-old Virginia Shepherd, to open the door. After entering the residence, the two minors were located in a back bedroom. While at the residence, deputies discovered marijuana, pills in improper containers, and a plate with an unidentified white substance in plain view. Shepherd and the male subject, identified as 57-year-old Timothy Moore, admitted to smoking marijuana. Moore had to be forcibly detained after struggling during the arrest. Both subjects were lodged in the Big Sandy Regional Detention Center on charges including kidnapping, endangering the welfare of a minor, and drug charges. Additionally, there were cited by Kentucky Fish and Wildlife for having an illegal pet squirrel in the residence.
