The Louisa Police Department is preparing for the upcoming academic year by providing a resource office for local schools. Patrolman Julius Music has completed School Resource Officer Level 1 Training and will be assigned to schools within the city limits. Louisa Police Chief Greg Fugitt said the school board will be paying half the salary for an officer, allowing them to continue to provide extra protection and youth programs within the school system. Chief Fugitt added that they changed the color of Patrolman Music’s vehicle to the school colors to show their commitment and support towards the youth in the county. The first day of school for Lawrence County is August 8, 2018.
