The Laurel County Sheriff’s Office made an arrest following a burglary investigation on Wednesday, July 25, 2018. The arrest occurred around 2:20pm on US 25 south. Detective James Sizemore was assisting other detectives during a burglary investigation when he learned the location of a possible suspect, identified as Steve Hammons. Detective Sizemore responded to the Marathon service station across from Hunter Hill’s School on US 25 South and located Hammons inside the store. The suspect was found to have narcotics on his person. Hammons, 47, was charged with possession and trafficking of controlled substance. He was lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.
