On Friday, July 27, 2018, the Harlan County Sheriff’s Office made a drug arrest in the Cawood area. Around 3pm Friday, deputies were on patrol in the area when they observed a female subject in the area that had an active Indictment Warrant. Tara Thomas, 40, of Cawood, was arrested on an Indictment obtained by deputies. During the arrest, she was found to be in possession of methamphetamine. Thomas was charged with possession of controlled substance methamphetamine, promoting contraband, tampering with physical evidence, possession of drug paraphernalia and persistent felony offender. Additionally, she was served with a Harlan County Child Support Warrant. Thomas was lodged in the Harlan County Detention Center.
