Prestonsburg Man Arrested for Armed Robbery

On Friday, August 10, 2018 around 5pm, Kentucky State Police Post 9 Pikeville received a report of an armed robbery on KY Rt. 1086. When troopers arrived at the scene, they were informed a male came in the back door of the residence of Russell Wallace and his wife, holding them at gunpoint. The subject took two firearms and the Wallace’s vehicle and the left the residence in the direction of Wayland. Around 6:30pm, Post 9 received a complaint of a reckless driver near the Dwale community in Floyd County. The description of the reckless vehicle matched the description of the vehicle in the robbery. After locating the vehicle, a traffic stop was attempted, but the driver refused to stop. A short pursuit ended after the operator exited the vehicle and fled on foot. The suspect, identified as 26-year-old Zackery Howard of Prestonsburg, was found finding in a residential garage in the area of Old Dwale School Road. Howard was charged with robbery, theft, resisting arrest, menacing, and disorderly conduct. He was lodged in the Floyd County Detention Center.
