A Lexington man, who previously admitted to attempting to entice minors to permit him to engage in illicit sexual conduct, has been sentenced to 150 months in federal prison. On Monday, August 13, 2018, 33-year-old Timothy Poynter II was sentenced for using the Internet, with his cell phone, to knowingly attempt to persuade, induce, entice, and coerce a minor to engage in sexual activity. Poynter admitted to communicating with two different undercover officers, who portrayed themselves as parents of minors, and indicating his interest in engaging in sexual intercourse with the fictitious minors. Poynter pleaded guilty to the charge in May of 2018. Following his sentence, he will be under the supervision of the US Probation Office for the remainder of his life.
