A fatal traffic crash occurred in Laurel County on Thursday, August 16, 2018. The single vehicle crash occurred around 1:52pm on I-75. Investigating deputies with the Laurel County Sheriff’s Office report that a 1993 Dodge Dakota pickup truck was traveling southbound at a high rate of speed, passing vehicles on the right should, just prior to the collision according to witness statements. The vehicle apparently ran off the roadway and into the median, striking the chain divider fence and ejecting the driver. The driver was transported to St. Joseph Hospital London where he was pronounced deceased. The driver, identified as 28-year-old Thomas Stokes of Mobile, Alabama was the only occupant.
