On Wednesday, August 15, 2018, the Laurel County Sheriff’s Office responded to a complaint of a two vehicle traffic crash on Somerset Road. While conducting the investigation, deputies determined the driver of a gold Ford Focus involved in the crash was under the influence. The driver, 20-year-old Kaitlyn  Watkins, was charged with operating a vehicle under the influence, failure to maintain insurance, and possession of marijuana. Additionally, she was charged with a Laurel County District Court Bench Warrant. She was lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.
