Kentucky State Police Post 9 Pikeville have opened a death investigation with fatality involved in a structure fire. Post 9 received a 911 call just after 11pm on Friday, August 17, 2018, reporting a structure fire at 1529 Road Creek Road in Elkhorn City. The structure was fully engulfed in flames when emergency services arrived. After the fire was under control, a search of residence discovered a body located in side. The body was pronounced deceased just after midnight, then taken to the state medical examiner’s office for autopsy and toxicology report to determine cause of death. The investigation is ongoing and no foul play is suspected at this time.
