Man Arrested in Laurel County for Reckless Driving following Pursuit

On Wednesday, August 22, 2018, around 4:53pm, the Laurel County Sheriff’s Office made an arrest off Parker Road. Deputy Jake Miller was dispatched to investigate a complaint of a gray colored vehicle driving recklessly near St. Joseph Hospital London. Deputy Miller proceeded to the area of the complaint and observed the suspect vehicle, a Pontiac G6, driving at a high rate of speed and noted that the vehicle had a full busted windshield. Deputy Miller activated his emergency equipment in an attempt to initiate a traffic stop, but the vehicle sped away. Additional law enforcement personnel joined in the pursuit of the vehicle. Information was developed on the location of the vehicle, which was found hidden behind a residence off Parker Road. The driver, identified as 42-year-old Paul Thurmond, was discovered inside the residence, along with numerous firearms. It was determined the suspect was a convicted felon. Thurmond was arrested and lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.
