On Friday, August 24, 2018, the Laurel County Sheriff’s Office made an arrest at a residence off Philpot Road in an attempt to locate a male suspect on felony warrants. Upon arrival, detectives knocked on the door of the apartment and a subject, identified as 23-year-old Tiffany Owens, opened the door, holding a three-year-old son. She allowed detectives into the residence to search for individual wanted on warrants and observed drug paraphernalia throughout the residence, which were within of the child. Owens also admitted to having smoked methamphetamine two days prior. Detectives noted she was seven months pregnant. She was arrested and charged with criminal abuse and lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center. Social services were called to place the child elsewhere.
