On Monday, August 27, 2018, Kentucky Retirement Systems announced that their investments earned more than $1.4 billion during the Fiscal Year that ended June 30, 2018. Pension Fund Investments collectively earned a total of 8.57% and Insurance Fund investments earned a total of 9.05% for the year. KRS total assets increased to $17.42 billion as of June 30, 2018. Kentucky Retirement Systems is responsible for the investment of funds and administration of pension and health insurance benefits for over 379,000 active and retired state and local government employees, state police officers, and nonteaching staff of local school boards and regional universities.
