On Monday, August 27, 2018, Governor Matt Bevin’s legal team filed a 100-page brief with the Kentucky Supreme Court to decide the fate of Senate Bill 151, the recently enacted pension reform law. Steve Pitt, general counsel for Governor Bevin, said they are confident the constitutionality of the bill is supported by legal precedent. Earlier this summer, the Franklin Circuit Court invalidated SB 151 on the basis of two legislative-process issues. On August 10, 2018, Governor Bevin filed a motion to transfer the case to the Supreme Court, which was granted the same day.
