On Tuesday, September 11, 2018, Big Sandy Community and Technical College will be honoring and remembering our fellow Americans with the annual Patriot Day ceremonies to be held on the Prestonsburg, Pikeville, and Mayo campuses. Patriot Day is a day of remembrance of the September 11, 2001 attacks on the World Trade Center in New York City, the Pentagon in Arlington, Virginia, and in Shanksville, Pennsylvania that killed 2, 977 people. Ceremonies will take place on the Mayo Campus in the Varia auditorium beginning at 10am, Prestonsburg Campus at 11:30am near the Flagpole, and on the Pikeville Campus at 1:30pm in the Atrium. Dr. Sherry Zylka, BSCTC President and CEO, said the annual Patriot Day ceremonies are held to honor those we lost that day, as well as honor the first responders who put their lives on the line every day.
