On Saturday, August 25, 2018, while patrolling the Kermit area of Mingo County, officers attempted a traffic stop on a silver Nissan Xterra, driven by Donald Bradley Marcum. The operator then drove into the opposite lane of traffic, passing several vehicles, in an attempt to elude officers. The chase lead into Wayne County, then back to Mingo where he passed several other vehicles in a reckless manner. Marcum allegedly intentionally rammed into the cruiser of Cpl. E. Williams and his K-9 Bravo. According to passengers inside Marcum’s vehicle, they stated they tried to get him to stop and he refused.
