The Kentucky Department for Public Health has launched the next phase of their information campaign for quitting tobacco. In addition to new advertisements, the department has launched a new texting services in which users text QUITKY to 797979 to connect to the quit line. They can also visit quitnowkentucky.org. DPH Commissioner Dr. Jeffrey Howard, MD, said that quitting is easier with counseling and assistance programs like Quit Now Kentucky. He added the service can help you try again, and keep trying, until you are successful. Kentucky currently has the second highest rate of smoking in the country, with 24.6 percent of residents reporting daily tobacco use.
