Johnson County Murder Suspect Turns Self In

On Friday, September 7, 2018, around 2pm, Johnson County Jailer Doug Saylor notified Kentucky State Police Post 9 that a murder suspect, identified as Walter Lee Curtis, had contacted him, saying he would turn himself in. A trooper was dispatched to go with the jailer as a precaution. Mr. Curtis was located around the area of the old highway garage on KY RT 172 in Johnson County. He was taken into custody without incident and lodged in the Big Sandy Regional Detention Center. Curtis is a suspect in the murder of Mike Jones, who was found deceased with a gunshot wound at a residence in Flatgap on Monday, August 27, 2018.
