Police Recover Truck and Dog Stolen in Hazard

Around 7am Friday, September 7, 2018, Hazard Police received a call that a 1993 Ford Ranger was stolen from a female while she was stopping at a local store. The owner reported that her dog was in the truck. Hazard Police responded but were unable to locate the vehicle at the time. Officer John Holbrook entered the truck as a stolen vehicle. Police were able to locate the victim’s cell phone that was in the truck at the time of the theft and determined the vehicle was in or around Winchester. After contacting area law enforcement and giving a description of the vehicle, the Clarke County Sheriff’s Department contacted Hazard Police, saying the truck and the dog had been located on the Mountain Parkway. Both appeared unharmed and were returned to the owner.
